Privacy Policy

JuniorQuests Inc. ("Junior Quests", "we") operates this service in Canada. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its ten fair information principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Accounts are for parents and guardians

Junior Quests is designed for adults. Children should not create accounts or submit information to us. A parent or guardian who adds a child to a family profile confirms they have the authority to share that child's information and consents to it on the child's behalf. If we learn a child has given us personal information directly, we delete it.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, name you choose to display, and password (stored securely by our authentication provider — we never see it).
  • Family profile (optional): each child's nickname or first name, age and interests. We ask for a nickname rather than a full name, and we never ask for a child's photo, school, birth date or address.
  • Preferences: home postal code or city, search radius, favourite categories and notification choices.
  • Activity in the app: saved activities, calendar entries, day plans, reviews and city/program follows.
  • Location: only if you tap "Use my location". Precise coordinates are used in your browser to sort nearby activities and are not stored on our servers or remembered between visits.
  • Submissions and waitlist: organiser contact details on event submissions, and email addresses left on our "expanding soon" waitlist.

How we use it

Only to run Junior Quests: showing age-appropriate activities, saving your plans, sending reminders you switch on, reviewing submitted events, and telling waitlist members when their area launches. We do not sell personal information, we do not use children's information for advertising or profiling for marketing, and we do not share it with program providers. Booking happens on the provider's own site, under their privacy policy.

Children's information — extra safeguards

  • We collect the minimum needed: a nickname, age and interests.
  • Children's details are visible only to the signed-in parent who added them, protected by row-level access rules in our database.
  • Reviews are published under the parent's account, never a child's.
  • You can edit or remove a child from your family profile at any time; removal deletes that record.

Where it's stored and who processes it

Data is stored with our cloud infrastructure providers, who process it only on our instructions and under contractual safeguards. Some providers may store data outside Canada, in which case it may be subject to the laws of that country. Map tiles and place data come from OpenStreetMap; address lookups may send the text you type to a geocoding service.

How long we keep it

We keep account and family information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, children, saved items, plans and follows within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep a record. Waitlist emails are deleted once we've told you your area has launched, or sooner on request.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, or withdraw consent, by emailing hello@juniorquests.com from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Security

We use encrypted connections, access controls that limit each family's data to their own account, and staff-only access for review tools. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the Privacy Commissioner as PIPEDA requires.

Accountability and changes

Our privacy lead can be reached at hello@juniorquests.com. If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell signed-in users in the app.
